Silkie and Bantam Food Feeder

I bought a post mount Silo and when I used this, it seemed a bit high for the Silkies, so coopworx kindly sent me telescoping legs and they did the trick. We live in Texas and must prepare for straight line winds coming from the north and west and while I did put a tarp over one of the feeders, I left the other one out in the open to see if I could see a difference. I do not see a difference. The ports are designed to make a small amount of food available for the chickens and I have had no trouble with the food getting wet, nor do the chickens seem able to play with the food. It has cut way down on the food waste and it holds up to 80 pounds of food so my birds are set for quite a while and I love that!! I highly recommend this product!!

Pros/Cons/Overall

I have the single post design inside of a protected run.

Pros:
Feels well built
High capacity (fits a 50lb easy)
Really low waste maybe 2 or 3 cups per bag
Chickens have no problem with it
Soft/flexible red openings
Place to secure the top from coons
Doesn’t clog

Cons:
Depending on soil, can be a pain to properly set the post.
Magnetic covers are meh I don’t know how well they would work free range.

Overall:
It’s a little spendy, but a very nice and well designed product. Takes a little time getting the post set plumb and good luck if you hit rock. PVC feeders work ok, but if you want a more attractive solution that you can place anywhere, this is the one to get. Go ahead and spoil your chicks and pick one up.
