Silo Feeder

I was buying a 50 pound bag of feed for my 12 birds about every 3-4 weeks before this thing arrived. Granted, they are now 10 weeks old, and eating more, but I've not seen any feed on the ground. I've had the feeder now for about 4 weeks and I filled it up when I got it. As of today, they've eaten about HALF of what I put in there, and nothing is wasted. In the long run, this feeder is going to save me money and eventually pay for itself in the long run. Plus, I don't have to feed them every day, giving me time to get out of town for a few days if I feel like it.

Hi Jon, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I am glad to hear your feed silo is saving you money. Thanks! Tom

Had to modify, but works well now!

When I ordered the CoopWorx Feed Silo I knew I could have a challenge with our feed flowing. We don't feed a crumble, pellet or textured feed-we use a meal or ground feed. Changing feed wasn't an option since we manufacture this feed at our own mill. With the generous return policy, I wasn't worried about giving it a try. Right away, I knew we had to either return it or modify it. The flange the feed flows through to get to the access holes wasn't quite big enough with the weight of the feed on top of it, it packed instead of flowing down. I could stick my hand down the insides and allow feed to flow a few times a day. That wasn't any better than using our old feeders though. I debated whether to return or modify. I decided to modify and used a box knife to cut a 1" slit in the black flap that hangs in each access hole. This was just enough to allow the feed to flow down into the access hole as needed. Since then, it's not been a problem. I do have to level the feeder back out every couple of days, the X base isn't as wide as it could be and the chickens move/dig/peck the dirt and sand out around it and it becomes unleveled. This also causes the feed to pile up on one side and not flow. All of this to say, I'm pretty specific about feed, feeders, flowability, etc given my career so the normal person might not even notice these things, especially if buying commercial feeds that are a different texture.

Love our Silo Feeder!

Love our feed silo! Big step up from our old feeders. I have noticed a few tiny leakage issues after super heavy rain. But I will probably just move it inside our coop when had weather is expected.
